DENISE DEVLIN is a dynamic theatre artist, director and educator whose career bridges professional performance, directing, and transformative teaching. A nationally and internationally experienced musical theatre performer, she has appeared in tours and productions including Mamma Mia!, Shrek the Musical, Kinky Boots, and Seussical, bringing a deep, embodied understanding of the industry into every rehearsal and classroom. As a director, Denise has led numerous youth and educational productions, crafting engaging, ensemble-driven storytelling while mentoring young performers to develop confidence, discipline, and artistic voice. With a BFA in Acting, an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Denise is equally accomplished as an educator. She has taught across university, secondary, and conservatory settings, specializing in acting methodologies including Stanislavsky, Hagen, Meisner, Michael Chekhov and audition techniques. Her teaching philosophy centers on culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and student-centered practices that empower diverse learners to take creative risks and grow as both artists and individuals. Blending professional artistry with innovative pedagogy, Denise Devlin creates rehearsal rooms and classrooms that are rigorous, inclusive, and deeply human, preparing the next generation of performers to lead with skill, empathy, and authenticity.
FUN FACTS:
- Denise is a dual citizen of Australia and the United States and lived in Australia for 11 years. She traveled and worked in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. She has a love of Australian animals, especially wombats, Australian coffee and sunsets.
- Denise’s first role was Ms. Hannigan in Annie at the age of 13, she was a competitive figure skater for ten years.
- Her favorite places she’s traveled are Greece and gorilla tracking in Uganda.
